Originally from the UK, Wendy has lived and worked in Switzerland, Canada, The Bahamas and Virginia, and has particularly enjoyed helping buyers from overseas realize their dreams of having a home on the islands of Sanibel and Captiva.
Prior to becoming a real estate broker, she taught English at Le Rosey in Switzerland, worked as a journalist for a daily newspaper in Canada and for the Island Reporter newspaper on Sanibel. She has also taught speech and journalism at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau and at Florida Gulf Coast University in South Fort Myers. Wendy was Administrator of the Captiva Erosion Prevention District during the first beach restoration project in the 1980s. She still reports occasionally for WGCU Radio, the local National Public Radio affiliate on Sanibel and Captiva events.
As a former teacher, she enjoys helping people understand the real estate process. When Wendy came to Sanibel from England in 1984, she immediately bought property here without understanding the ways in which buying real estate in the United States is different from buying in other countries. She now finds it very satisfying to help buyers and sellers from both the U.S. and other countries understand everything that is involved in that process.
In that same vein, her mission is to help buyers and sellers fulfill their dreams and desires with insight and intelligence, especially if they are from overseas. Wendy’s 25 years of real estate experience on Sanibel and Captiva and surrounding area provides her with detailed knowledge of the real estate market in the area.
It is no surprise then that outside of real estate, Wendy’s passion is traveling. She loves to visit other countries and learn about the customs and culture. As a volunteer in The Sanibel Library, Wendy loves to read. She also loves film and is on the BIG Arts Film Society Committee on Sanibel. Bringing in her ties to the international community, Wendy is also an active member of the Sanibel-Captiva Zonta Club, an organization devoted to furthering the status of women all around the world.
